Tax Time Tips

Though nothing can be done for employees who are surprised by their tax returns from last year, we cannot stress enough the importance of encouraging employees to be proactive and to do a health check of their withholding periodically.

Your employees can:

Review their paystub periodically.

Employees should review earnings and deductions in their paystub quarterly (at the very least).

Use the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator.

Employees should go to the IRS website and use the Tax Withholding Estimator for help identifying the correct withholding.

Submit a revised From W-4

Employees can complete a revised W-4 Form and submit to their employer for future withholding. The federal government completely changed the W-4 in 2020, so your longer-tenured employees that may not have updated their W-4 since the change should do so.
